Je ne regrette rien (Edith Piaf)
This one-night-only concert is jam packed with iconic Cabaret songs and pieces - you’ll be in the company of Auricle and special guests with songs from Edith Piaf, Marlene Dietrich, Britten, Kurt Weill, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, music from the hit shows Chicago and Cabaret, and the fiery Latin music of Piazzolla.
Our composer-in-residence Steve Forman has also specially composed two songs after the poetry of Motherwell born poet, Liz Lochhead.
Let our professional cast take you on a journey from dingy 1900’s Berlin Cabaret to glitzy Broadway via Paris, London and Buenos Aires: this is cabaret like you’ve never heard it before and is a must see!

Miss Donnithorne's Maggot
An unmissable concert featuring one of Max's Music Theatre Pieces from the seventies. Following much critical acclaim from her performances of Pierrot Lunaire last year, Alexa Mason returns to take the title role of Miss Donnithorne. The concert plays out as a wedding ceremony complete with dead flowers, spider webs and dusty morning suits. Robin Holloway's arrangements of Haydn's mechanical clock pieces gone very wrong is followed by Miss Donnithorne processing down the aisle to the Fantasia upon one note (complete with banjos, cello-playing pianists and harpsichord-playing violinists). There follows PMD's fantastic, amusingly disturbed and thoroughly deranged theatre piece about Miss Donnithorne, the supposed true inspiration for Dickens' Miss Havisham from Great Expectations. Cake will be served after the ceremony.
